Granddad was a humble boy from Hessle Road who served his country with pride and bravery. Gone but not forgotten.
Wilfred Wallace Black (1918-2015)
Granddad rarely spoke about his years in the Army but they had a lasting effect on his life and health.
Despite being evacuated from Dunkirk as part of the BEF and then marching up through Africa, Sicily and the Amalfi Coast as a Desert Rat before taking part in the D-Day landings; Granddad always denied being a hero. But he was to us.
This tribute fund is our way of showing that we love and miss you every day, Granddad. We will carry on supporting those who fought alongside you and those who have followed in your footsteps.
In loving memory X
